Sunday December 27, 2009
- All times are local
- Students wear “Conquest of Gold t-shirt” for today’s travel.
- Chaperones/Staff/Students wear badge.
- Due to long travel times please eat a good breakfast including plenty of water and plan to bring non-perishable snacks for today’s travel
5:30 AM Everyone arrives at Jefferson. Arrive at Jefferson with all luggage (including carry-ons) and instruments (flute and clarinets) clearly marked with name, address, phone and bus number. All other instruments will already be loaded on the Band of Blue trailer. Girl’s luggage to room 169, boy’s to 170. All carry-ons to the choir room. Chaperones will check luggage. Loading crew will load buses/trailer after all luggage is checked.
6:30 AM Everyone will meet in auditorium for last minute announcements. Staff and Chaperones leaders will board the bus first. Students will board buses after chaperones have chosen seats throughout the bus.
6:45 AM Everyone departs for CID (Eastern Iowa Airport).
7:00 AM Arrive at CID for charter flight check in. 9:00 AM Charter flight departs CID (tentative).
11:30 AM (PST) Arrive in San Diego. Pick up luggage, instruments and garment bags and transfer to buses. Noon Transfer to beach. Lunch included at the beach.
4:30 PM Transfer to Hotel for check in.

Monday December 28, 2009
Good morning!! No, you’re not dreaming…we’re in sunny San Diego!!
7:00 AM Breakfast provided at hotel. Be sure to eat well and drink plenty of liquids.
8:30 AM Depart for mass band rehearsal at Otay High School. Everyone needs their instrument and sunscreen!
9:00 AM Mass band rehearsal.
11:00 AM Rehearsal complete. Transfer to San Diego Zoo. Lunch on your own at Zoo.
4:00 PM Picnic at Zoo (provided).
5:00 PM Zoo closes. Transfer to Seaport Village.
9:00 PM Transfer to hotel.
10:00 PM Room Check.
10:30 PM Lights out!
Tuesday December 29, 2009
6:30 AM Breakfast provided at hotel. Be sure to eat well and drink plenty of liquids.
7:30 AM Depart for mass band rehearsal at Otay High School. Everyone needs their instrument and sunscreen! You should also bring a jacket for Sea World later.
8:00 AM Mass band rehearsal.
11:00 AM Rehearsal complete. Transfer to SeaWorld. Lunch on your own. Spend the afternoon at SeaWorld. Dinner & dance provided!
10:30 PM Transfer to hotel.
11:00 PM Room Check.
11:30 PM Lights out!
Wednesday December 30, 2009
Students must wear complete Band of Blue uniform including coat, pant, black shoes and socks, gloves, t-shirt and your shako for performances later today. You will also need street clothes. Load instruments on bus after breakfast.
7:00 AM Breakfast provided at hotel. Be sure to eat well and drink plenty of liquids.
8:00 AM Depart for Holiday Bowl Big Bay Balloon Parade.
10:00 AM Holiday Bowl Big Bay Balloon Parade performance! Back to bus after performance. Change into street clothes. Lunch provided.
3:00 PM Group arrives at Stadium.
5:00 PM Holiday Bowl Game and halftime performance! Dinner on your own after halftime in stadium. Enjoy the game. Transfer to hotel after game for immediate room check/lights out.
Thursday December 31, 2009
8:00 AM Breakfast provided at hotel. Be sure to eat well and drink plenty of liquids.
9:00 AM Depart for Disneyland in Anaheim, Califormia.
11:00 AM Arrive at Disneyland. Tickets and meal vouchers passed out upon arrival. Use the meal vouch for either lunch or dinner (provided). Other meal is on your own. The day is yours to enjoy the park!
10:00 PM Return to hotel. Room check immediately upon return to hotel and immediate lights out!
Friday January 1, 2010
Departure day.
8:00 AM Breakfast provided at hotel. Be sure to eat well and drink plenty of liquids.
9:00 AM Check out and departure. The complete check-out procedure will be explained in detail. Load all luggage, instruments, carry-ons and garment bags. Turn in keys at front desk.
10:00 AM Harbor Cruise. NOON Transfer to airport for departure. Lunch on own at airport.
2:00 PM Flight departs for Cedar Rapids.
8:00 PM (CST) Arrive at CID. Transfer to Jefferson.
9:00 PM Return to Jefferson! This concludes the trip, but we’re
sure that you’ll have some new friendships and have experiences and fond
memories to last a lifetime!!!
